Colorado chain law goes into effect next week

With summer still in full swing, it’s hard to believe it’s that time of year again — next week, Colorado’s chain law goes into effect.

Each year, from September 1 to May 31, the state of Colorado requires all trucks that are traveling on I-70 between Morrison and Edwards to carry chains.

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, “Commercial vehicles operation on I-70 in either direction between milepost 133 (Dotsero) and 259 (Morrison) from Sept. 1 to May 31 must carry sufficient chains at all times to be complaint with Colorado chain law.  This is the only area in Colorado in which chains must be carried during the specific season.”
